Highland drops 'Hounds

HIGHLAND -- Fort Scott Community College's men suffered their fifth straight loss Saturday afternoon, falling to Highland 63-59 in Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division play.

Alex Barner led Fort Scott (1-7 East, 2-17 overall) with 15 points while Teance Walton added 14. Both players had 8 rebounds.

DeAndre Upchurch led Highland (3-5, 13-7) with 24 points as he connected on 5 of 10 3-point shots. Jamar Gulley chipped in with 15 points.

The Scotties made 52 percent of their shots as they made 24 of 46 field-goal attempts on their home court. The Greyhounds shot 42 percent on 24 of 57 and connected on just 3 of 16 3-point tries.

Fort Scott outrebounded Highland, 37-22, but also committed 15 turnovers to just 7 for the Scotties.

The Greyhounds, who have lost 40 of their last 43 games, including 25 of their last 27 conference games, will try to get a win at Kansas City Kansas Wednesday night. The Blue Devils (5-2, 14-3) played Johnson County in a make-up game Monday night.
