Frary Field will be the site this Saturday for the annual Jayhawk Conference showdown between Fort Scott Community College, ranked No. 3 in the National Junior College Athletic Association pre-season poll, and sixth-ranked Butler to open the home portion of the 2010 football season for the Greyhounds.

Game time is set for 1 p.m. but fans will want to get to the stadium early to enjoy a tailgate party in the vacant lot to the west west of the Fort Scott High School parking lot on Main Street. KSEK-FM radio is hosting this event with Great Western Dining and Greyhound Athletics providing 200 hot dogs and 200 hamburgers for all Greyhound fans to enjoy.

This is also a very special weekend for Greyhound football as the program will honor the 1970 NJCAA Championship Team's 40th Anniversary at halftime of the contest. Several members of that squad will be present to receive accolades for their past achievements.

The Greyhounds (0-1) opened their 2010 season last Saturday, suffering a 55-42 loss to No. 1-ranked Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Blinn jumped out to a 35-7 first quarter lead and never looked back finally putting the 'Hounds away with two fourth-quarter touchdowns to seal the deal.

Butler (1-0) defeated Navarro (Texas) in their season opener, 16-10, in Wichita, Aug. 26 as part of the NJCAA Kick-off Classic. Butler used several Navarro miscues and turnovers to hold onto the victory.

Fort Scott goes into Saturday's game with a two-game winning streak over the Grizzlies after ending the 22-game winning streak Butler previously had over FSCC . The 'Hounds triumphed 14-10 in the regular season finale, giving them their first Jayhawk Conference championship since 1974, and then again 13-12 in the Region VI Championship Game. The games were played at Frary Field two weeks apart.

Butler had won the last eight Jayhawk Conference Championships (regular season) and four of the previous five Region VI titles (playoffs).

Offensively, the Greyhounds will build on some of the success they had last week at Blinn as redshirt freshman quarterback Blaine Dalton (6' 2", 205, Blue Springs, Mo.) completed 9 of 30 for 263 yards and three touchdowns. Dalton was also intercepted 3 times and sacked 4 times.

Dalton's main weapon was redshirt freshman wide receiver Malcolm Moulton (6' 1", 190, Atlanta, Ga.) who had 9 catches for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Fort Scott rushed the ball 41 times for 67 yards against a Blinn front line that averaged 300 pounds.

Defensively, the Greyhounds were led last week by sophomore linebacker Jeremy Walker (6' 0", 235, Kansas City, Kan.). Walker had 6 unassisted tackles and 7 assisted tackles and also returned a blocked punt 35 yards for a touchdown.
