Velma Ernestine Rocher, 90, passed away Dec. 10, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott. She was born Jan. 22, 1919, at Elkhart, Texas, to Bryant Lee and Lillie Dorma (Brooks) Brooks. On Jan. 19, 1940, she was united in marriage to Alfred Joseph Rocher in Mangum, Okla. She was retired from Key Work Clothes. When she was active, she loved to garden, sew, knit, crochet, and cook.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Rocher of Fort Scott, and several nephews. Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Rocher, on April 27, 1991, her parents, an infant daughter, a son; Tom Rocher, a brother; L.H. Brooks; two sisters; Nancy Ann Vaughan, and Dortha Falkner, a nephew; Garland Vaughan, and a niece; Rhonda Kay Wilson.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday, Dec. 14, and Tuesday Dec. 15, to sign the register book at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial is at the Evergreen Cemetery. A private family memorial will be held. She was a beloved mother and will be greatly missed.
