Luella Elizabeth Bigelow

Luella Elizabeth Bigelow, 92, of Fort Scott, died at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Fort Scott, Saturday evening, December 27, 2008. She was born March 17, 1916 in Hiattville, Kan., the daughter of Harry and Tillie Elizabeth (Humphrey) Wescoatt. She married C.W. 'Bill' Bigelow October 15, 1938 in Columbus, Kansas. He preceded her in death June 13, 1988.

She was a lifelong resident of Bourbon County, and a graduate of Hepler High School class of 1935. She was retired from Mercy Hospital, where she worked as an aide in the Nursery.

Luella is survived by a son; Galen C. Bigelow and his wife Marita, of Fort Scott, a daughter; Juanita E. Eads and her husband Roy, of Fort Scott, a brother; Earl Wescoatt and his wife Wilma, of Las Vegas, Nev., eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter; Christina Eads, and a great-granddaughter; Kelley Tupin.

Rev. Mike Chipman will conduct graveside services for Luella 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at the Hiattville Cemetery, with the family receiving friends at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home beginning at 10 a.m. until leaving for the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Medicalodge Activity Fund, and they may be left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
