Melanie Elizabeth (Voreiter) Staton, died Monday morning, Nov. 3, 2008 in Pleasanton, Kan. She was born in Vienna, Austria June 9, 1928.

She celebrated her 80th birthday this past June with over 50 friends and family attending the party at The Residencies in Pleasanton.

She married Delbert C. Staton of Pleasanton, Kan. at the close of World War II. They lived in the same house in Pleasanton for fifty years until his death in March, 1998.

Melanie worked at the Braemoor Garment Company and became the operations manager until its closing in the mid 1980's. She supervised the construction and production of fine quality coats for Pendleton Mills and Betty Rose. The factory earned a reputation of great workmanship.

Melanie loved her family, home and garden and especially loved to eat fresh peas form the garden as well as fresh black cherries from the tree in the back yard.

Melanie is survived by her eldest son Ronald C. Staton of Pleasanton, Kan., her youngest son Phillip D. Staton and daughter-in-law Ronda Staton of Stilwell, Kan., and daughter--in-law Teresa Staton of Pleasanton, Kan.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Timothy, Melanie, Rebecca, Michelle, Wendy, Sean, and Dave. Her great grandchildren include Elizabeth Anne Staton, Manon Elizabeth Turpin, Camden Paul Staton, Zane and Alexandria Staton, Samantha Staton, Nicholas Talley and Henry Talley; Megan, Christopher and Tyler Edwards, and great great granddaughter baby Rose.

Pastor Jim Cox will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the Pleasanton Assembly of God Church in Pleasanton, Kan.

Burial will follow in the Pleasanton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Pleasanton Assembly of God Church.

Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kan.
