Edna Ruth Clark, age 92, a resident of Deerfield, Mo., died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at her home.

She was born July 27, 1915, in Rushville, Ill., the daughter of Jess David Gillenwater and Hazel Eleanor Tucker Gillenwater.

She married Walter E. Clark on September 1, 1934, at Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1996.

Edna had worked for many years as a nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott. She was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Following her retirement, Edna enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include two nephews, Ronald Jones, Fort Scott, Kan., and Raymond Clark, Camdenton, Mo.; two nieces, Amelia Bower, Deerfield, Mo., and Vicky Page, Fort Scott, Kan.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Opal Jones and a niece, Ruth Brooks.

Father Tom Scaletty will conduct graveside services at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan. Friends and family may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel on Wednesday, prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:15 a.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Mercy Hospital Foundation and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
