WILLIAM K. "DYNAMITE" MATLOCK

William K. "Dynamite" Matlock, 80, of Farlington, died at 4:30 p.m., Monday, June 02, 2008, at his home in Farlington.

He was born July 29, 1927 in Farlington, a son of Hugh B. and Phoebe Mary (Graham) Matlock. He graduated from Cherokee High School and Adela Hale Business College in Hutchinson, Kan.

He served in the US Army during W. W. II.

He married Etta Mae Toms on October 15, 1949 in Fort Scott, Kan. She survives of the home.

He worked as a chief clerk for the Burlington Northern Railway for 42 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Farlington; the Memphis Lodge No. 108, AF and AM of Garland, Kan.; the George Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard; and the TCU Clerk's Union of the Burlington Northern Railway.

Survivors are daughters Karen Matlock of Springfield, Mo., Kathleen Nalley of Fort Scott, Kan., and Keitha Yoos of Fredonia, Kan.; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; brothers Darrel Matlock of Springfield and Kenneth Matlock of Olympia, Wash.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Hugh Matlock, on April 26, 1986, two sisters, Naomi Marie Collins and Ila Rose Graham and a brother, Donald Dean Matlock.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at the United Methodist Church in Farlington with Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Farlington Cemetery with Military Honors given by the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard and graveside Masonic services given by the Memphis Lodge No. 108, AF and AM of Garland.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, where friends may call after 10 a.m., Thursday.
