Raymond Lee Young, 66, of Pittsburg, KS, was called home by our Lord at 6:55 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008, at the St. John's Regional Medical Center at Joplin, MO. Ray was born September 9, 1941, in Fort Scott, KS, the son of Emil and Virginia Moyer Young. Ray was a son, father, husband and grandfather. He married Cory Stewart on September 19, 1975, in Nevada, Mo. He drove a semi-trailor truck for Utermoehlen Alternate Fuels from 1960-1970. He was a police officer for the Fort Scott Police Department from 1970-1975. He went back to Utermoehler where he worked until forced to retire from ill health in 1997. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Pittsburg, KS.

He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and loved his family unconditionally. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. His memory will live in our hearts. Additional survivors include two sons, Scott Young and wife Samantha, Springfield, Mo., and Justin Young, Pittsburg, Kan.; four daughters, Miste Machino and husband Matthew of Springfield, Mo., Ashley Creamer and husband Donivon, Pittsburg, Kan., Rebecca Young, Pittsburg, Kan., and Laura Adams, Bolivar, Mo.; grandchildren Madyson, Brant, Aerabella, Landon, Kaitlin, Amaris, Micha, Autumn, Meadow, Stormy, Daine, Nathaniel, and one unborn; his brother Bob Young, Wimberly, Texas; two sisters, Sarah Croan, Lane, Kan., and Donna Carson, Garland, Kan.. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Patty Brandon and Cathy Page, and a brother, Gary Young.

Pastor Carl Walker will conduct graveside services for Raymond Young at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott. Friends and family will meet at Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pittsburg Assembly of God Church and may be left in care of Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
