Frederick Theodore "Ted" Kelley, Jr., age 71, a resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the Freeman Health Center in Joplin, Missouri. He was born November 9, 1936, in Golden City, Missouri, the son of Fred T. Kelley and Mary Loretta Keller Kelley. Ted graduated from the Fort Scott High School and the Fort Scott Junior College. He married Joanne Jackson on December 8, 1956, at Fort Scott, Kansas. Ted had worked for thirty-six years at Ennis Business Forms. He had enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes and was a past member of the RC Flyers Airplane Club, where he helped create a flying area at the Fort Scott Airport for radio controlled planes. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing and was currently President of the Old Fort Sharp Shooters Association. He spent many hours at the Hollister Shooting Range. Ted was a member of the Church of Christ at 15th and Crawford.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne, of the home; a daughter, Tedena Tucker and husband Rick, Fort Scott; two granddaughters; Stephanie Tucker, Fort Scott, and Heather Engstrom and husband, Scott, Fort Scott; and two great-grandsons, Taylor and Brayden Engstrom. Also surviving are two brothers, James Leland Kelley and wife, Pat, Providence, Rhode Island and Joe Kelley and wife, Vicky, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two sisters, Loretta Kelley, Fort Scott and Teresa Russell and husband Kevin, Fort Scott; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Kelley, Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Kelley.

Pastor Brett Martin will conduct graveside services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:45 A.M. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Old Fort Sharp Shooters Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
