Nathanial Thomas (Nate) Wright

Nathanial Thomas (Nate) Wright, resident of rural Afton, Okla., died early Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident. He was 17. He was born Nov. 21, 1989, at Denison, Texas, to Joe Bob and Elizabeth Ann (Thomas) Wright. They moved to Afton in 1991, from Achille, Okla. He was a student at Afton High School and would have been in the senior class this year. He was active in the Afton FFA Chapter since the eighth grade. He served as a treasurer his sophomore year and was vice-president his junior year. He had won numerous plaques and trophies showing his limousine cattle at county, state and national levels. He also had won plaques for livestock judging and coon hunting. He was active in the National Junior Limousine Assoc., the Professional Kennel Club, and the United Kennel Club. He was a member of the FCCLA. His number one love was bullriding. He had been awarded a full scholarship for livestock judging to Fort Scott Community College. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami, Okla. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Bart and Drew Wright, all of the home, paternal grandparents, Joe and Janice Wright of Welch and paternal great grandmother, Nadine Barr of Chetopa, maternal grandparents, Hubert and JoAnn Thomas of Fort Scott, and maternal great grandmother, Edna Mae Marsh of Fort Scott, aunt Natalie Snyder and husband, John, and uncle Greg Thomas. He was preceded by paternal grandfather Arthur Barr, Gibb and Wilma Wright, and maternal grandparents, Earl Thomas, and Oscar and Jimmie Sapp, cousin Hunter Thomas, and uncle, Bart Wright.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at the Afton High School Gymnasium, with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Clarksburg Cemetery in Fort Scott. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Thomas, Chris Kemna, Josh Kemna, Josh Cox, Ben Tosh and Bill Aldridge. Honorary pallbearers will be the FFA Officer Team and Chapter Members.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Adcock Funeral Home. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home in Afton.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Nathan Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.
