Joan Ann Wheeler, age 68, of Walnut, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha. Joan was born in Fort Scott on April 29, 1938, the daughter of Basil and Mildred Eva (Beggs) Hill. She attended schools in Fulton. She was united in marriage to Joel Gammill on April 9, 1955, they were later divorced. She then married Dwight (Buck) Tipping on March 27, 1972. They were also divorced. She was united in marriage to Donald David Wheeler or November 29, 1986. He preceded her in death.

Joan was a Nurse's Aide and cook for many years. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Darling of Burlington, Mary Eva Parsons of Neodesha, Joel Gammill of Cadiz. Kentucky. Gary Allen Gammill of St. Paul, Stephen Boyd Gammill of Walnut, Jerome Farris Gammill of Walnut, Cheryle Fourie of Spencer, Iowa, and Johanna Pursley of Cherryvale; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven brothers and one sister.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Barnesville Cemetery, east of Fulton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 13, 2007 from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in her name may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association and may be left with the funeral home.
