City officials averted potential disaster concerning a downtown building Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Fort Scott City Manager Brad Matkin issued a public notice stating a gas leak had been discovered, and Second Street between Main Street and National Avenue would be closed to traffic until the scene was cleared. The gas leak occurred inside the Moody Building, a three-story structure at the northwest corner of Main and Second streets.
