Friday, September 24, 2021

A variety of aircraft and many school children converged on the Fort Scott Municipal Airport Thursday as part of the Air Kansas Tour sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation Division of Aviation.

The tour began at Wellington, with Fort Scott as the second stop. After Fort Scott, pilots and their crew and passengers fly into Iola, then to Lawrence where they spent the night.

On Friday, the tour flew to Clay Center, Phillipsburg and into Salina for the night.

Today, the tour will fly to Concordia and end at Beechfield Wichita, where a tour of the Beechcraft plant is planned.

Of the 40 pilots registered for the tour, about 30 of them landed at Fort Scott, and with passengers and crew, there were about 50 total people participating from the air, according to Fort Scott Municipal Airport Manager Seth Simpson.
