Patriots Day

Friday, September 11, 2020

A large U.S. flag hangs off the ladder of a Fort Scott fire truck, which is parked next to a Fort Scott Police Department squad car and Bourbon County EMS ambulance in recognition of Patriot Day on Friday. Patriot Day is held each year in remembrance of the 2,977 people killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on American soil. Names of the victims of the 9/11 attacks and those who have fallen during the War on Terror were read over the downtown public address system. Staff at the Fort Scott National Historic Site assisted volunteers in recording the readings prior to Friday.
