Ways to market rural areas such as Fort Scott and Bourbon County were the focus of a Friday visit to Fort Scott by Kansas Secretary of Commerce David Toland.

Toland provided attendees of a round table discussion at Luther’s BBQ with updates on the Kansas Department of Commerce’s new vision and goals for the state, as well as new programs available to help economic growth in rural portions of the state. The meeting was attended by representatives of the city and county, Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce, Bourbon County Economic Development Council, Inc., and various business professionals.
