City State Bank at 1012 S. U.S. Highway 69 is lit up for the holiday season. The bank won first place in the business category of the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Christmas Light Contest sponsored by Niece Products.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the 2019 Christmas Light Contest, which was sponsored by Niece Products.

In the residential category, the first place prize of $75 went to Jim and Shirley Brown of 13 S. Margrave St. The second place prize of $50 went to Bill and Aileen Pollock of 304 W. Ninth St. Stacey Dawson and Rhonda Pinkerton of 1505 S. Crawford St., won the third place prize of $25.

City State Bank, 1012 S. U.S. Highway 69, won the $100 first place prize in the business category.

The house and yard of Jim and Shirley Brown at 13 S. Margrave St., is festive with Christmas lights and a display for the holiday season. The Brown’s display includes a light show that is coordinated with holiday music that can be heard on the radio at 100.5 FM. Brown, an electrician, builds the circuit boards and programs the lights himself each year. The combined light show and music lasts 16 minutes and runs from 6 to 10 p.m. each day. The display won first place in the residential category of the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Christmas Light Contest sponsored by Niece Products.

Country Club Hills won the $100 first place prize in the neighborhood category.

The chamber also recognized organizers of the Clark Street Lights display at 753 S. Clark St. Shannon Johnson, Tommy Johnson and their crew put on a “wonderful light display for the community” and also participated in the nightly Christmas Light Trolley Tours by greeting passengers along the way.
