Ida Lydia Poore

Ida Lydia Poore, 78, of Lamar, passed away the morning of Aug. 9, 2019 with her husband, Melvin Poore holding her hand. Ida was born March 26, 1941 to Frank Lewis and Ethel (Eads) Burdick. She was the ninth of 10 children and they all grew up in Deerfield, Mo. Ida loved music and taught herself to play the acoustic guitar. She married Melvin Poore in 1975 and during their marriage they traveled from the north to the south, depending on the season. She played her guitar and sang with other patrons of the parks they used.

Ida is preceded in death by her father, Frank, her mother, Ethel, her brothers, Frank Burdick Jr., Bill Burdick, Edward Burdick, and Earl Burdick, and a sister Beulah Brocob. She is survived by her husband, Melvin, her daughters, Julia Burroughs and family of Kansas City, and Rose Valentine and family of Lamar, her sisters, Rosie Brown of Indiana, Alice Pilcher of Nevada, Mo., Gladys Ballou of Webb City, Mo., and Emma Bledsoe of El Dorado Springs, Mo.

The funeral service for Ida will be Tuesday Aug. 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. at the Uniontown Cemetery in Uniontown, Kan.
