Drug testing to begin at Fort Scott schools

USD 234 district handbooks for the 2019-20 school year will include a policy for drug testing students at Fort Scott Middle School and Fort Scott High School.

After a discussion and remarks from Superintendent Ted Hessong, the board approved handbooks for students at all four district schools, as well as the Fort Scott High School activities handbook, coaches handbook and district employee handbook. District officials have been talking in recent months about putting a drug testing policy in place as a proactive approach to addressing drugs in schools.
