Fort Scott High golfers took the top two spots in the Tigers’ home invitational at Woodland Hills Golf Course Tuesday.

Junior Lauren Madison shot 44 over nine holes to take the title while freshman Karlie Chipman came in second with a 45. Jerlyn Kustanborter of Chanute was third over Independence’s Bailey Werner on a tie-breaker after each shot 47.

Fort Scott shot 230 as a team as the Tigers had the minimum four golfers for the first time this season. Katlyn Hanks with her 61 and Ellie Perkinson with her 80 contributed to the Tigers’ fourth-place finish.

Uniontown sent three golfers here. Aubry O’Neal finished highest with a 58 which was good for 18th. Libby Franks and Ashton Church tied with scores of 64.

Pittsburg and Chanute both shot 195 as a team. After going to the No. 5 golfer on each team to see what their score was, Pittsburg was named champion. Fredonia was third with their score of 228.

Although non-league teams were invited this was the first of what was to have been three SEK league-designated tournaments this season, which means that Madison and Chipman also top the SEK. The second one would have taken place at Parsons Monday but there is no girls’ golf team this year as not enough players came out to justify it so that was cancelled. The third tournament is scheduled for Pittsburg on Sept. 25.

Fort Scott has replaced the Parsons Tournament with one hosted by Frontenac that will take place at Four Oaks Golf Course on Monday. Uniontown was also to have played at Parsons but also has a tournament scheduled at Eureka a week from today.

There is a tournament scheduled for Chanute on Sept. 17. It’s possible that will take the place of Parsons for league championship purposes.
