Uniontown baseball sweeps Crest
UNIONTOWN — Uniontown’s baseball team swept Crest in a Three Rivers League doubleheader here Friday, winning the first game, 15-1, and the nightcap, 13-1.
Uniontown (2-0 TRL, 4-0 overall) was to have played Chetopa Monday but not enough players reported to make a complete team there this season.
The Eagles blew the game open with a 12-run second inning.
Alec Womeldorf had 2 of just 6 hits the Eagles needed to win game one. He, Kolby Seested, Andrew Reed and Nick Hathaway each drove in 2 runs.
Graham Hathaway (2-0) allowed just one hit over the first 4 2/3 innings of play. He walked 7 batters and struck out 8.
Uniontown scored in every inning of game two, pounding out 13 hits. Reed, Womelsdorf, Seested, G.Hathaway and Nick Hathaway had 2 hits each. Both Hathaways drove in 3 runs.
Ty Davidson (1-0) allowed 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7.
These were the first games played in the history of the Crest program. The Lancers fell to 0-4, 0-4 when they were swept at home by Southeast, 17-1 and 20-0, on Monday.
Uniontown’s next games are scheduled for April 9 versus Southeast in a home league doubleheader.
