Tigers, Bulldogs rescheduled for tonight
Due to the freezing rain and the accumulation of ice on the roads, Fort Scott and Independence high schools agreed to postpone Tuesday’s scheduled Southeast Kansas League games to tonight. Game times will be the same with the main gymnasium hosting junior varsity girls at 4:30, varsity girls at 6 p.m. and varsity boys at 7:30. Boys JV will be held in the new gym at 4:30 followed by freshmen boys at 6 and freshmen girls at 7:30.
SEK games between Labette County and Coffeyville were also postponed to tonight at Coffeyville while Parsons and Chanute will play their make-up games Thursday at Chanute. A boys’ game featuring Joplin at Pittsburg was played as scheduled.
The regular season concludes Friday with Labette County at Independence, Parsons at Fort Scott and Pittsburg at Coffeyville in league doubleheaders while Chanute travels to Columbus for a non-league twinbill.
Sub-State Tournaments for Class 5A, Class 4A-Division I and Class 4A-Division II will be seeded Saturday. Fort Scott will host a 4A-II Sub-State which includes Chanute, Independence and LCHS. Both Labette County teams have clinched the top seed in their brackets. Independence and Fort Scott girls are both 11-7 with Indy winning the first meeting this season, meaning that tonight’s game goes a long way to deciding which will be the No. 2 seed.
Fort Scott’s boys (7-11) have clinched the No. 2 seed. Independence (4-14) and Chanute (3-15) are fighting for the No. 3 seed.
