WBE principal resigns

The Uniontown Board of Education will be faced with replacing the West Bourbon Elementary Principal for the 2018-19 school year.

Following an executive session Monday, the board voted to accept the resignation of Tyler Jackman effective at the end of this school year.

Following the meeting, Jackman said he will be leaving his career in education to take over management and operations of the family farm south of Girard as his father-in-law phases into retirement.

“I would like to just publicly thank Mr. Jackman,” Superintendent Bret Howard said.

Howard, who began as superintendent in July, said Jackman was helpful to him as Jackman was “the only administrator here” and knew some history of the district. The board also hired Mark Calvin as the high school principal in 2017.

“I thank (Jackman) for helping me get off on a good start,” Howard said.
