Area Basketball: Northeast stays tied for TRL lead

Northeast boys 76, Oswego 30.

OSWEGO — Northeast’s boys kept pace with Yates Center for the lead in the Three Rivers League with a 76-30 win over Oswego here Tuesday night.

It was the ninth win in 10 games for the Vikings (6-0 TRL, 9-5 overall) after starting the season 0-4.

Yates Center (5-0, 12-2) remained tied with Northeast after beating Crest, 56-35. The Wildcats and Vikings meet in Yates Center on February 13.

Northeast finally returns home Friday night with a league game versus Jayhawk-Linn, which is tied for second with St. Paul.

Oswego fell to 1-5, 2-11.

Uniontown boys 52, Chetopa 42.

UNIONTOWN — Ben George continues to put up big numbers for Uniontown’s boys, scoring 28 points and collecting 9 rebounds in the Eagles’ 52-42 Three Rivers League victory over Chetopa here Tuesday night.

The Hornets (1-6 TRL, 3-11 overall) led 13-10 after one period of play and 23-17 at the half. The Eagles (4-2, 6-8) won the third quarter 21-7 to claim an 8-point lead going into the final stanza.

Uniontown will host Southeast Friday night.

Oswego girls 53, Northeast 46, OT.

OSWEGO — Oswego’s girls (3-3 TRL, 4-9 overall) won for the fourth consecutive time after beginning the season 0-9 as the Indians claimed a 53-46 overtime victory in Three Rivers League play. Northeast (1-5, 3-11) lost for the fourth straight time and seventh time in their last eight games.

The Vikings will play at home Friday night against Jayhawk-Linn in a TRL contest.

Chetopa girls 52, Uniontown 22.

UNIONTOWN — Karleigh Schoenberger led Uniontown with 10 points and 4 rebounds in a 52-22 Three Rivers League loss to Chetopa here Tuesday night.

The Green Hornets (3-4 TRL, 7-7 overall) led 14-1 after one quarter and 32-5 at halftime as they claimed their fourth consecutive win. Uniontown fell to 1-5, 2-12 following its fourth straight loss.

Uniontown will be at home against Southeast Friday night.
