Zachary Lee Hansen, 38, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., made our world a little quieter when he left, Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017. The wonderful ruckus, that was Zach, was born April 27, 1979 in Audubon, Iowa, the son of Robert Morris and Katherine Marie Hansen. He graduated from Uniontown High School in Uniontown, Kan., May 1997. Zach worked for Pitner Custom Flooring for several years installing flooring on cruise ships, in casinos, and other places. This job took him around the world to places such as Singapore, Australia, Canada, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and to his favorite place, Alaska. He loved the meticulous work he did with tile and the company's home base of Washington and Oregon. Zach also spent a number of years working along side his best friend and brother-in-law, Robbie Sobba, doing carpentry and construction. Zach was proud of his Danish heritage and named his closest companion, his American Bulldog, Hvid Hund which means "white dog" in Danish. Hvid Hund went nearly everywhere with him. The two of them would load up in his truck and drive for miles and miles on back country roads. Zach never knew a stranger and had a very close group of friends whom he considered his family. That group of friends lovingly gave him the nickname, Zach@$$, and it stuck! He loved attending rock concerts, especially Rockfest and Rocklahoma with his friends and family. Zach enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors: camping, fishing, grilling, bon fires, shooting guns, swimming, and gardening most of which he did in a tank top even in freezing temperatures! Zach is survived by a son, Ryker Lee (also a Danish name), of Scammon, Kan.; his mother, Kathy Rubio, of Ladson, S.C.; his maternal grandparents, Henry John and Doris Jones, of Elk Horn, Iowa; two sisters, Bobbie Sobba-Reetz and husband, Nathan, Pittsburg, Kan.; a sister, Ronda Blair and husband, Chuck, of Joliet, Ill.; three brothers, Joshua Ericksen and wife, Krystal, of Ladson, S.C.; Adrian Spencer of Chicago, Ill.; Robbie Sobba of Pittsburg, Kan.; several aunts and uncles, many cousins, six nieces and four nephews, and a special friend, Kim Adams and her children; Caysha, Keegan, and Kaden of Fort Scott, Kan. Zach was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hansen; his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Alice Hansen; and a paternal aunt, Kris Pulliam, who passed a mere 12 days after Zach’s death. In lieu, of flowers expressions of sympathy may be given online to his GoFundMe page, Zach’s Expenses & Ryker’s Education, or sent directly to his sister, Bobbie, who is managing all of his affairs. A celebration of life will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Homer Cole Community Center 3003 N. Joplin St. Pittsburg, KS. This is a celebration, so please dress in whatever makes you comfy! God knows Zach probably would’ve been in a tank top and holey, stained jeans! Stop in any time and grab a snack and a drink, tell your favorite Zach@$$, or Zach story, get a hug, and look at pictures! He was a man well-loved, with a life FULL of stories and shenanigans, that, while it was albeit, too short, will leave all of us with memories to last a lifetime.
