David Leroy Blethen

David Leroy Blethen, 53, passed away Dec. 23, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Joplin. He was born Aug. 12, 1964, to David LeRoy Blethen and Kathleen Jane Blehen (Herring). He was born and raised in Fort Scott, Kan. He married Deanna Ilene Burch on Oct. 17, 1992. Though unable to work due to disability for the past two years, he spent seven years working for Tri-Valley, and set an exemplary example of the power that patience and a strong work ethic can have on those around you. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing and hanging out at home.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna, and two children, David, James Blethen and Kimberlee Ann Blethen, all of the home. He is also survived by one brother, Chris Blethen (Christe), and two sisters, Julie (Joe) Headley and Brenda (Ryan) Hill. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Lifepoint Assembly of God in Fort Scott, Kan., on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. DJ Blethen will deliver a short message. This will be a time for friends and family to share favorite memories and stories about David. He touched many lives.
