FSMS 7A wins tourney

GARNETT — Fort Scott Middle School’s seventh-grade girls’ basketball “A” team won the championship at the Anderson County Tournament here Saturday while the eighth-grade “A” team finished second.

Sydney Herrin led the seventh graders with 16 points and 8 rebounds in a 30-14 win over Wellsville in the first round. She had 17 points and 10 boards in the Tigers’ 32-13 championship game win over Prairie View.

The eighth graders lost to Wellsville in the first round, 33-21. Harmony Shaw scored 10 points. Alexa Bukowski had 5 rebounds and Addisyn Fowler picked up 4 steals.

The Tigers beat Anderson County, 36-25, in the third-place game. Abby Altic scored 14 points while Shaw had 12 points and 4 steals. Bukowski had 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

All four teams —7A and B, 8A and B, played in Pittsburg Tuesday. They will also all play at home Thursday afternoon against Chanute-Royster.
