Short-handed Cottey rallies for win over ’Hounds

Cottey, which has just six players, controlled the second half of Saturday afternoon’s game in the Gladbach Classic at Arnold Arena to take a 78-68 win over Fort Scott Community College’s women.

The Comets (1-4) got their first victory of the season as they outscored the Greyhounds (4-4) 28-18 in the second quarter and 48-37 in the second half.

Four players reached double figures in scoring for the Comets, led by 22 points from Malory Moles and 21 by Katrina Cantu. Destiney Teniente added 17 points and Alex Alvarez finished with 11.

Jada Perry and Jade Winter each scored 14 points for Fort Scott. Uniontown graduate Shalina Harper added 10.

The Greyhounds played Monday night on the road against the Ottawa University junior varsity.
