Larry Wayne Johnston
Larry Wayne Johnston, 72, of rural Liberal, Mo., died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Mr. Johnston was born Nov. 24, 1944 in Fort Scott, the son of Wayne Caldwell and Margaret Lucille Wirt Johnston. Larry was a retired truck driver who owned and operated Johnston Brothers Trucking for 30 years. He was raised in Bronaugh, Mo., and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1962. He married Kathryn A. Bright on May 27, 1967 at the Christian Church in Bronaugh, Mo.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Liberal, Mo. He also served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of the home; two daughters, Shanda Shaw and husband Aaron of Liberal, and Shasta Simpson and husband John of Liberal; a son, Larry Shayne Johnston and wife Anjell of Arcadia; a brother, Richard (Rick) Johnston of Bronaugh; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carolyn Cliffman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma with the Rev. Elvin Winans officiating. Burial will be at the Shiloh Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel where friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday.
