Tiger volleyball beats Baxter Springs

Fort Scott High School volleyball defeated host Baxter Springs in a best-of-five match Thursday, winning 25-16, 25-15, 18-25, 18-25, 15-9.

Abby Humble handed out 19 assists for the Tigers (2-1) while Montana LaRoche dealt 10 assists and served 3 aces. Kharsyn Dwyer led in kills with 14 follwed by Kenady Poyner with 8. Madison Cook had 6 blocks and also served 4 aces.

Earlier in the week, Fort Scott opened its season with a triangular at Nevada. The Tigers defeated Anderson County in their first match, 26-16, 25-23, but lost to Nevada, 26-24, 25-22. Statistics for those matches are not available.

The Tigers open Southeast Kansas League play Tuesday night at Parsons. They will face Pittsburg and Coffeyville but will not play Parsons. Play begins at 5 p.m.
