Uniontown’s softball team split a Three Rivers League doubleheader versus Yates Center Tuesday but dropped both games against a tough Humboldt squad on Thursday.

Tuesday, Yates Center won game one 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh while the Eagles took the second game 4-2.

The Wildcats scored the first 2 runs of the first game in the bottom of the third. The Eagles tied it in the top of the fourth. Keeley Goodridge led off with a solo home run. Makenzee Franklin followed with a single to center field. She stole second in front of Chattlyn Franklin’s walk and moved to third on an error, scoring the tying run on Jacey Bowen’s single past third base.

Yates Center went ahead, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth. Uniontown tied it in the top of the seventh. Holly Shinn led off with a triple to right field and scored on Daryan Herring’s sacrifice fly.

The Wildcats scored the winning run with 2 out in the bottom of the seventh.

Shinn and Goodridge were each 3 for 4 for Uniontown.

Uniontown scored the first 2 runs of game two in the top of the second, both coming in on Franklin’s single past shortstop. Danielle Young and Herring scored after each drew walks as the first two batters of the inning.

Yates Center tied the game in the fifth. The Eagles scored the winning and insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Sivannah McAnulty led off with a single. Young was hit by a pitch with one out. After the runners pulled off a double steal, McAnulty scored on a groundout and Young scored on a single by Franklin.

McAnulty was 3 for 3 at the plate for Uniontown, picking up half the team’s hits.

Thursday, Humboldt swept Uniontown 8-1 and 14-2, in games played at George Warren Field in Uniontown. The Eagles’ only run in the opener scored when Goodridge came in on Young’s single past second base in the sixth inning.

The Cubs had 23 hits in game two and scored 5 runs in the first inning and 6 in the second.

Uniontown scored once in the first when Young drove in Goodridge and once in the third when McAnulty scored on a groundout after hitting a leadoff double.
