PAOLA — Fort Scott High and Paola moved their softball doubleheader here Thursday due to wet field conditions at Don Hewett Field and the Panthers made home-field advantage pay off in a 5-2, 13-3 sweep of the Tigers.

Karlee Stanley went 3 for 3 for the Tigers (8-6) in the opener while Aubrey Ard was 2 for 3. Fort Scott scored single runs in the first and sixth innings.

Stanley’s first-inning line-drive single scored Emily Hale with the game’s first run. But Paola scored 4 in the bottom of the inning.

Ard drove in Lane Bohlken in the sixth inning for the Tigers’ other run.

Paola secured game two with an eight-run fifth which forced the 10-run rule into effect. The Tigers scored twice in the top of the first with the Panthers tying it in the bottom half. Fort Scott scored its other run in the third to go up 3-2 but Paola responeded with 3 in the bottom half.

Stanley drove in Bohlken and Madi Jones on a single in the first inning. Bohlken brought in Kenady Poyner with a single in the third.

Fort Scott was held to four hits. Mia Bryant had a double. Bohlken, Stanley and Poyner had the other hits.

This would have been Fort Scott’s final home doubleheader of the season had it not been moved. The Tigers will spend the rest of the season on the road with their next twinbill coming on Monday at Labette County in Southeast Kansas League action.
