Eagles baseball sweeps Oswego

OSWEGO — Uniontown’s baseball team scored 39 runs in a sweep of Oswego in Three Rivers League play here Monday.

The Eagles (2-0 TRL, 4-0 overall) won game one, 21-5, in four innings and the second game, 18-5, in five.

Uniontown needed just 7 hits to win the opener while taking advantage of 12 Oswego errors. Nick Hathaway was 2 for 4 with 2 runs batted in while Graham Hathaway drove in 3 runs. Cale Coyan also had 2 hits and Alec Womelsdorf has 2 RBI.

N.Hathaway was the winning pitcher, allowing an unearned run on no hits and a walk while striking out 5. Coyan finished up, allowing no earned runs on 3 hits and a walk with one strikeout.

N. Hathaway, Coyan, David Bradbury and Andrew Reed all had 3 hits in the second game. Reed and Lute Karleskint each drove in 3 runs.

Three pitchers worked for Uniontown, allowing a total of 2 hits. G. Hathaway allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out 4 in the first 2 innings. Jesse Kuns allowed a run in the third on 4 walks while striking out 2. Womelsdorf allowed 3 walks and struck out 6 over the final 2 innings

This was the first time the Eagles had played a complete game since opening the season March 16 at the Northeast Tournament. Since then, a doubleheader versus Yates Center got started but was suspended and another twinbill versus St. Paul was postponed in its entirety.

The Eagles are scheduled to play a league doubleheader at Jayhawk-Linn in Mound City at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
