Patty Irene Thompson
Patty Irene Thompson, age 80, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Cecil John Feagins and Dorothy Irene Bolden Feagins. Patty married Doug Thompson on May 28, 1953, in Nevada, Mo. Patty was a dedicated wife and mother who worked hard to provide for her family's needs. She enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include a daughter, Natasha Thompson of Louisiana and a son, Justin Thompson of Colorado and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Jean Wheeler and husband, Dale and Kay Fleming and husband, Doug, all of Fort Scott and a brother, C.J. Feagins and wife, Cindy, also of Fort Scott. Her husband, Doug, preceded her in death on June 14, 2009. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ivadean Severy and Carol Cassett.
President Kenneth Tourtillott will conduct funeral services at 10 A.M. Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
