Two Pittsburg State University students from Fort Scott are making sure the young and the elderly receive help this Christmas season.

Kelli Davis and Janderon Harrison, both social work students at PSU, are nearing completion of class projects to provide assistance during the holidays. Davis' goal in her project is to help elderly in the area and Harrison's project is designed to help area youth.

"The senior project has to benefit the community in some way," Davis said.

Davis, whose mother works at Medicalodges of Fort Scott, said as she has gotten to know some of the 60 residents of the facility, her desire to honor the elderly by filling in the gaps during the holidays has grown.

Her project, called Santas for Seniors, is designed to provide stockings of gifts to residents of Medicalodges.
