Lester Koch

Lester Koch, age 95, a resident of Chanute, Kan., passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. He was born June 13, 1921, at the Johnson Hospital in Chanute, the son of Will Koch and Grace Myers Koch. Lester served with the United States Coast Guard from October of 1942 to March of 1946. Following his military service, he married Maxine L. Koch on April 7, 1946, at Bell, California. Lester spent 35 years in law enforcement which included two years as undersheriff in Wilson County, 23 years with the Kansas Highway Patrol and 10 years with the Southeast Kansas Regional Correctional Center in Fort Scott with eight of those years in administration. Lester enjoyed fishing, camping with his wife and son, Bill, at Fall River on the old family homestead. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and spending time with his family.
