FSMS girls' season underway

Fort Scott Middle School's girls' basketball season opened on Nov. 3 with games at Independence.

The seventh-grade A team won its game that night by a score of 30-19. Harmony Shaw led the Tigers with 16 points.

The seventh-grade B team lost to Independence, 13-8. Amanda Emmerson scored 4 points for Fort Scott.

The eighth-grade A team defeated Independence, 40-26, with Sami Bradbury scoring 11 points and Ella Beth following with 10.

Tuesday, the girls played their first home games of the season against Coffeyville-Roosevelt. The seventh-grade A team won 26-11 as Shaw scored 11 points. The B team did not play.

The eighth-grade A team won 47-18 as Beth scored 13 points and Bradbury followed with 12.

The eighth-grade B team took a 20-4 win over Roosevelt. Montana LaRoche led the Tigers with 8 points.

All four teams were scheduled to play at Nevada Thursday. The eighth-grade A team lost, 40-16. Beth and Kenly Jones each scored 4 points. The B team won, 25-19, as Bean and Hudiburg each scored 6 (first names were omitted from the report). The seventh-grade A team lost, 33-15, while the B team won, 13-6.

Fort Scott's seventh-grade A team will play in a tournament at Frontenac today. Both B teams will be at a tournament hosted by Prairie View today as well.

Monday, all four teams will be at home against Parsons with the first game to tip off at 3:30 in the FSMS gymnasium. Tuesday, all four teams will play at Pittsburg.
