John Malcolm Biles
John Malcolm Biles, age 62, a former resident of Fort Scott, Kan., and more recently of Lawrence, Kan., passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence. He was born Jan. 18, 1954, in Fort Scott, the son of Lloyd Martin Biles, Jr. and Bertha Florence Koch Biles. John graduated from the Uniontown High School and the Fort Scott Community College. He later majored in art at Pittsburg State University. John had worked in the dietary department of Fort Scott Mercy Hospital for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors as well as painting and listening to classical music. He also liked science fiction novels and movies.
Survivors include two brothers, James R. "Rick" Biles and wife, Linda, of Attica, Kan., and Robert K. "Bob" Biles and wife, Deanna, of Sandy Utah; two sisters, Mary Ann French and husband, Ed, of Redfield, Kan., and Janice M. Biles, of Lawrence, Kan. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7 at the Woods Cemetery near Redfield. The family will receive friends on Monday at the Cheney Witt Chapel from 10 until leaving for the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
