Norma Lorene Seidler (Richardson)

Norma Lorene Seidler (Richardson), born May 2, 1932, died at the age of 84 on Oct. 12, 2016, after a second battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at the home of her daughter, Maria Seidler, in Richmond, Va.

Norma's early life was spent in Fort Scott, Kan., where she graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1950. Throughout her life, Norma looked forward to returning to Fort Scott for High School reunions, until she could no longer travel. She remained close to many of her high school friends until her death. She was also a member of the First Nazarene Church from the age of 10 until 19. During the last three years of her life, Norma wrote her autobiography and in it she attributed her high school experience, her life in the Nazarene Church and the love of the Fort Scott community for providing the foundation that made her the good and strong person she was.

In addition to her daughter, Maria, Norma is also survived by her other children: Christian Seidler of Houston, Texas; Marta Oliver of Pottstown, Pa.; Margaret Seidler of Valencia, Spain; and Victor Seidler of Tulsa, Okla., as well as 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and by her sisters, Connie Thompson, of Springfield, Mo., and Joanne Richards, Chaffee, Mo., and her brother, Rick Richardson, Spicewood, Texas. Norma was married to Migdonio Seidler, who passed away in 1983. Her husband and her children were the center of her life.

In her autobiography, she wrote: "This book is for my grandchildren, and all the grandchildren of my family, because I want them to know who they are and where they came from and to overcome their disadvantages, and make good choices. Then you can't help but to be an achiever! Life isn't meant to be easy, but it is meant to be lived." At 84, Norma knew that her life was closing, but still she would be disappointed that she missed by only a few weeks the wedding of her grandson and the presidential election. Anyone following her on facebook would know her intense interest in politics during her last days. In honor of her memory, her family encourages everyone to go vote.

A graveside ceremony to lay her ashes with those of her husband is scheduled for 11 a.m., Nov. 12, 2016 at the Rose Hill Memorial Park in Tulsa, Okla., with a reception for family and friends to follow at the home of Jessica Bailey, her granddaughter. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Norma's life.
