Gloria Belle Schilling, age 88, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at the Fort Scott Medicalodge. She was born April 30, 1928, the only child of Raymond and Ethel Martin Tucker, on a farm outside of Fort Scott. Gloria graduated from the Fort Scott High School with the Class of 1946. She later graduated from Fort Scott Junior College and then began teaching at rural grade schools. She married Delbert Schilling on May 21, 1950, at Fort Scott. Gloria stayed at home with her two daughters through their younger years. She later received her Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from Pittsburg State University. She taught fifth grade at Frontenac Elementary School and Eugene Ware Elementary School in Fort Scott. She later worked as an income maintenance worker for the Kansas Department of Social & Rehabilitation Service. Gloria was a committed Christian and life-long member of the First Church of God where she volunteered as adult Sunday School Teacher, Bible School teacher, youth group leader and deaconess. She was also active with small groups and prison ministry. Other memberships include Pioneer Kiwanis, Gideon's Auxiliary and FCE.

Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Wright and husband, Mike, of Fort Scott and Debbie Brock and husband, Ken, of Pittsburg, Kan.; and five grandsons, Kyle Wright, of New York City, Derek Wright and Matthew Wright, both of Austin, Texas, Bob Brock and wife, Lori, of Topeka, Kan., and Ron Brock, of Pittsburg. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Lucas Brock, of Oxford, Ohio and Caroline Brock, of Topeka; two nieces and one nephew.

Rev. Phil Wilson will conduct funeral services at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the First Church of God in Fort Scott, Kan. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
