Hope Melissa Gaynor, age 62, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died unexpectedly, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Fort Scott. She was born March 14, 1954, in Richmond, V.A., the daughter of Lehmon Gaynor and Annie Helen Parker Gaynor. Hope had been employed as a manager of the Best Western Hotel and had also worked as a librarian at the Fort Scott Public Library for over 20 years. She had served as a CASA volunteer for 10 years. She loved spending time with her grandsons.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas Gaynor and Chavez Gaynor, both of Fort Scott, and two grandsons, Tayshawn Gaynor and Kamdyn William Nelson-Gaynor. Also surviving are four sisters, Mary Margo Elliott, Cynthia Robinson, Spruce Remeley and Lamone Gaynor and a brother, Rodney Gaynor. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Following cremation, a celebration of life service was held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
