Harper wins 1,600 meters in Tuesday's Waverly meet
BURLINGTON -- Shalina Harper won the girls' 1,600-meter run here Tuesday as Uniontown competed in Burlington for the first time in a three-day span. This meet was hosted by Waverly.
Harper won three medals on the day, winning the 1,600 in 5:50 and fifth in the 800 in 2:43. She also took seventh place in javelin.
Jimme Keller finished in third in the 400-meter dash for Uniontown's girls. Nikki Bollinger was seventh in a junior varsity-level 1,600-meter race.
Josh Wisely finished fourth in the 200 meters to lead Uniontown's boys. Ben George finished seventh in varsity high jump and won a JV-level 1,600-meter event in 5:18.
There were 21 schools in the meet, which had JV 100, 200 and 1,600 meter events as well.
"This is a big meet for us," Uniontown head coach Jackie Hall said. "This meet is run with prelims and finals in all events, which helps us get ready for the league meet in May."
The Eagles returned here Thursday to take part in another meet, this hosted by Southern Coffey County. Uniontown also holds its annual home meet on Monday.
