Vikings rout Eagles

UNIONTOWN -- Northeast routed Uniontown, 21-7, in the first game of a scheduled Three Rivers League doubleheader here Monday. The second game was not played due to darkness and the fact that Uniontown's baseball field does not have lights.

The Vikings led 7-0 after their first two turns at-bat. Uniontown finally scored in the bottom of the second.

Northeast led 9-5 after three as the Eagles (2-1 TRL, 3-4 overall) scored 4 in the bottom of the inning.

Cale Coyan was 2 for 4 for Uniontown and had 3 runs batted in. He hit a double in the third that drove in 2 runs and a triple in the seventh that plated another run.

Northeast needed only 11 hits to score their runs as Uniontown pitchers issued 10 walks. The teams combined to commit 18 errors, which led to a total of 16 unearned runs.

There is no word yet on when the second game will be made up.

Monday, the Eagles host Oswego for another TRL doubleheader. Play is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
