Melva Deane Glaser, 81 of Pittsburg, Kan., died Feb. 20, 2016 at the Guest Home Estates in Pittsburg.

She was born June 5, 1934 in Pittsburg, the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Vivian (Campbell) Miller.

On Dec. 28, 1954 she enlisted in the U.S. Army where she served several years active duty in Japan and Germany. She was honorably discharged Nov. 12, 1957 with the rank of sergeant.

She married Raymond C. Glaser in Miami, Okla. He survives of the home.

Melva was a devoted homemaker but also worked a short time as a teacher and a social worker. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 64 Ladies Auxiliary, The Avenue of Flags, Pittsburg Saddle Club and PTA. She was an avid bowler.

Church memberships include the Zion Lutheran (where she was baptized) and St. John Lutheran Church.

Additional survivors include a son Raymond "Kelly" Glaser of Pittsburg; grandchildren: Rowdy (Alicia) Glaser and their children Bryer and Bailey; Lacy (Glaser) Aumann (Brandon) and their children Jamie, Blake, Austina and Braxton and granddaughter Jenea Whistler.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at the National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan., with Pastor Tom Wehrman officiating. Friends and family are requested to meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday to follow in procession to the cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
