Two finish fourth at Anderson County

GARNETT -- Graham Hathaway and Tommy Joles were Uniontown's highest finishers at the Anderson County Wrestling Invitational here Saturday, taking fourth place at 105 and 145 pounds, respectively.

The Eagles finished 15th as a team with 31.5 points. Carbondale-Santa Fe Trail won the tournament with 217 points followed by Independence with 208 and Frontenac with 167.

Hathaway drew a bye in the first round of pool matches. He defeated Osawatomie's Jacob Hollman but the actual result was not recorded by the software the school used to keep track of the tournament. Jeremy Boone of Blue Valley Southwest, a Class 5A school, pinned Hathaway in the final pool bout.

Hathaway was pinned by Christa Davis of Santa Fe Trail in the semifinals, then lost to Jacob Boone, also from Blue Valley Southwest, by an 11-3 score in the third-place match.

Joles drew a first-round bye in his pool at 145, then pinned Drew Hill of Southwest and Shiloh Sutton of Anderson County. In the bracket, Dillon Roedel of Frontenac was a 17-7 victor in the semifinals and Jackson Stafford of Independence won an 11-2 decision in the third-place match.

Gavin Miller finished sixth at 195 pounds, which was conducted as a round-robin in its entirety, but went 0-5.

Matt Morgan finished eighth at 126 pounds, also going 0-5. Blaine Ross finished eighth at 182, going 1-4 with a win over Blaine Morrell of Jayhawk-Linn by pinfall.

Also for Uniontown, Timmy Smith was 0-4 at 152 and Karah Beerbower was 0-3 at 132.

The Eagles are scheduled to wrestle in a dual at Southeast Thursday evening in Cherokee.
