Eagle golf in 2 places at once

Friday, September 18, 2015

Uniontown High's golf team was in two places at once Wednesday, sending two varsity players to Eureka and the rest to a "rookies" tournament in Frontenac.

Kyley Brown and Kaylyn Crystal were the varsity golfers at Eureka. Brown finished in 19th place with a score of 54 over nine holes. Crystal tied for 20th with her 55.

"I thought or varsity girls had a good round, just didn't score well on a few holes," Uniontown head coach Jason Tourtillott said. "Our common theme of late has been, we're getting to the green ok but struggling to get up and down from 10-20 yards out. We have been working on our short game but its going to take some time."

The Eagle JV finished second at Frontenac with a four-woman score of 225. Caney Valley was the winner with a 181.

Megan Smith placed third for the Eagles with her score of 41. Draven George beat teammate Kaitlynn Sampson in a scorecard playoff for ninth after both shot 57. Abby Jefferis shot 70 to finish 22nd. Zoe McClure carded a 75 to tie for 25th.

Uniontown's varsity will play at Chanute Monday at 1 p.m.
