FOOTBALL FRIDAY: Altoona-Midway at Uniontown
While we would like to give you a comprehensive preview of Friday night's season-opening game between Altoona-Midway and Uniontown, there are two problems:
1) Everything you want and need to know about Uniontown appears in the article that ran in the 2015 Fort Scott Tribune Football Preview that appeared in this fine publication in Wednesday's edition, so there isn't anything to add about the Eagles (if you did not get a Tribune on Wednesday, copies are available at the office at 12 E. Wall during regular business hours).
2) There isn't a lot of information available about Altoona-Midway. The Jets were 0-6 in the Three Rivers League and 0-9 overall last season, which was their first back after two years in which the school did not field a varsity football team -- and no team of any kind in 2012. Their last victory came in the last game of the 2011 season, a 45-24 win over Tyro Christian. Their last league win was in 2009 against Chetopa, a 6-0 victory the year before Sean Price went there to turn the Green Hornets into a winning program.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Uniontown.
