Telling Irena's story

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

Erin Simons, left, portrays a Jewish mother in "Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project" Tuesday evening at the Empress Theater. Megan Felt, right, was one of the original students to locate Sendler in Poland and bring to the light Sendler's rescue efforts in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Holocaust. This is the 351st performance of the play, which has had audiences in Poland, Canada, and 27 states in the U.S. Felt said each performance is exciting because of the audience's response and emotionally draining because of the story line and remembering Sendler, who Felt met as she chronicled her story. There will be another performance Tuesday, June 23, at the Empress Theater.
