Tiger baseball wins 16-3 over Girard
Fort Scott High School's baseball team took a 16-3 win over Girard in a make-up game that was moved to Dave Regan Stadium Monday. This was originally scheduled to be a doubleheader at Girard.
The Tigers will face McDonald County, Mo., in a varsity/junior varsity doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. today at Dave Regan Stadium. The varsity game will be held first.
Fort Scott is 12-4 following this win. The Tigers, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A-Division I in the most recent Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches Poll, have a chance to clinch a share of a three-way tie for the Southeast Kansas League title, but both of the following things must take place for that to happen.
Current co-leaders Labette County and Pittsburg must split their doubleheader today at Altamont. If this does not happen, the team that sweeps will clinch the championship outright. Then Fort Scott must sweep at Chanute on Thursday.
