Ruby DeCoudres, 90, of Fort Scott, died at Mercy Hospital, Friday evening, May 8, 2015. She was born May 18, 1924 in Iola, Kan., the daughter of Donald Madison and Carrie Edna (Doyle) Thompson. She married William DeCoudres Nov. 17, 1945 in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1997.

Ruby moved to Fort Scott in 1928 and graduated from Fort Scott High School. She worked at the Fort Scott Middle School as a cook, retiring in 1989, and she was a member of the Fort Scott Nazarene Church.

Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Madge Carrie Cox and husband Doug, and Sheretta Pauline Parsons and husband Wayne, both of Fort Scott; a brother, Frank L. Thompson of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren, Bradley Cox and wife Beth of Independence, Mo., Travis Cox and wife Alisha of Newton Falls, Ohio, Rachel French and husband David of Fort Scott, Kristen Hummel and husband Preston of Mulberry, Kan., and Jeanette Edwards and husband Eddie of Fort Scott; 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her husband, William, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; two infant sisters; four brothers, Roy E. Jones, Harold L. Jones, Gerald F. Jones, Herbert D. Jones; and three sisters, Margaret H. Metcalf, Lorene F. DeCoudres, and Bernice Thompson.

Chaplain Travis Cox and Rev. Tolle Bowman will conduct funeral services for Ruby 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with burial following at the Memory Gardens of Bourbon County Cemetery.
