Northeast sweeps Uniontown
ARMA -- Uniontown's baseball team was swept in a Three Rivers League doubleheader by Northeast here Monday evening, with both games stopped early due to the 10-run rule. The host Vikings won the first game 12-2 in six innings and the second 15-0 in three.
Northeast scored 8 runs in the first inning of the opener to take control. Uniontown's only runs -- despite a 10-hit game -- came in the third and fourth innings. The first run scored as the result of a triple steal with 2 outs as J.P. Pearson stole home on the play. The second run scored when Pearson's 2-out single scored Tanner Stewart, who led off the inning by drawing a walk.
Pearson, Cale Coyan and Jesse Kuns had 2 hits each for the Eagles.
Northeast scored 7 runs in the first inning and four in each of the two other innings played. The Eagles committed 7 errors and were not able to get a hit.
